The Replacement of Commune/Sangkat Councilors in 2010

          In 2010, some of commune/sangkat councils have been disqualified due to some cases which stated in the Article 16 of the law on Commune/Sangkat Administrative Management. Consequently, 299 commune/sangkat councilors (32 female councilors) have been changed in this 12 months period, including 28 commune/sangkat chief (1 female), 131 deputy chiefs (6 females) and 140 councilor members (25 females).

          There are 107 councilors from Cambodian People Party, 126 councilors from Sam Rainsy Party, 59 councilors from Nationalist Party and 7 counciors form FUNCINPEC party.

          Remarkably, the replacements of female commune/Sangkat councilors always change. As a result, the total amount of female councilors are 1831 of 11,353.(Unofficial translation)
